PACT meets with Senator Wyden's staff

Florence, Oregon - PACT Spokesperson, Arnold Buchman, announced that PACT representatives met today with Senator
Ron Wyden's chief of staff, Josh Kardon.  Kardon had  traveled to Florence to learn more about the proposed casino and its effects on the community.

"We found Mr. Kardon receptive to our concerns," said Buchman, "and particularly interested in the ways federal laws have been applied and administered with respect to a  casino in Florence."  Buchman said, "We look forward to a continuing dialogue with Senator Wyden's office."

PACT (People Against a Casino Town), is the grass-roots organization opposing the proposed casino. As part of their
opposition, the group is also pursuing a lawsuit against Governor Kulongoski about violation of the Oregon Constitution which prohibits casinos in Oregon.

Constitution of Oregon, Article XV, Section 4(12): "The Legislative Assembly has no power to authorize, and shall
prohibit, casinos from operation in the State of Oregon."
