PACT meets with Senator Wyden's staff
NEWS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 9, 2004 Florence, Oregon - PACT Spokesperson, Arnold Buchman, announced that PACT representatives met today with Senator Ron Wyden's chief of staff, Josh Kardon. Kardon had traveled to Florence to learn more about the proposed casino and its effects on the community. "We found Mr. Kardon receptive to our concerns," said Buchman, "and particularly interested in the ways federal laws have been applied and administered with respect to a casino in Florence." Buchman said, "We look forward to a continuing dialogue with Senator Wyden's office." PACT (People Against a Casino Town), is the grass-roots organization opposing the proposed casino. As part of their opposition, the group is also pursuing a lawsuit against Governor Kulongoski about violation of the Oregon Constitution which prohibits casinos in Oregon. - - - - - - - - - - - - -
