Florence Police to negotiate with casino
This article appeared shortly after a little-publicized suicide
in the parking lot of the Three Rivers Casino.
March 4, 2008 The City of Florence may enter negotiations with the Confederated Tribes of the Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians to provide police services to the Three Rivers Casino. In a report to the City Council, Police Chief Maury Sanders says he was approached by the Tribes' police chief about the possibility of providing the services in exchange for the Tribes funding two full-time sworn police officers. In the report, Sanders acknowledged that all officers working for the Confederated Tribes meet the same standards as city officers and that point could be negotiated. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23455141 |
