Sides Set to Argue Casino Lawsuit

FLORENCE - The lawsuit to block the Three Rivers Casino, scheduled for groundbreaking in the spring, is on a fast track, attorneys said Tuesday, with oral arguments to be heard in the case on Jan. 23.  This week, the state filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed by People Against a Casino Town, arguing that the group should have taken a different approach.

PACT must respond by Tuesday, and the state must answer two days later. Both sides will present their arguments on Jan. 23.

PACT attorney Brad Litchfield said Tuesday that he looked forward to arguing the merits of the case.  "We're confident in our position," he said.
