The struggle has expanded into the courts, and with the filing of a lawsuit intended to force our governor to honor his oath of office and uphold our State Constitution, the first phase of the legal battle has now been joined.  Precedent setting issues are involved that are national in scope, so every citizen of Oregon, and yes, every citizen of the United States, now has a vested interest in the outcome of this battle. Our initial attorneys, William Sherlock and Brad Litchfield, of Eugene, Oregon successfully established the validity of PACT's lawsuit in Oregon's court system.  Portland, Oregon attorney Kelly Clark is now leading the court challenge to the Governor's violation of the Oregon Constitution.  Alexis H. Johnson, who's licensed to practice in New Mexico, has advised us each step of the way.  These attorneys have proven themselves to be every bit as cost conscious as are the leaders of PACT, and everything that has happened up to this point, including the legal costs associated with filing the lawsuit, has been accomplished with very limited funding provided almost entirely by small contributions from local concerned citizens.  Now, however, costs are escalating in proportion to the expanded scope of the battle, and to continue the fight, we're going to need your help.

We've started a PACT Legal Fund to prepare for the battles that are sure to come.  The funds are used ONLY for legal fees and costs related to the court battles, and we maintain a detailed accounting for each and every dime.  When the "DONE DEAL"  threat of a casino near Florence, Oregon becomes a "DEAD DEAL," we will return all remaining Legal Fund moneys to contributors, on a pro rata basis to all who made initial contributions of $10 or more.
