- Contribute
to PACT's Legal Fund - We've started a separate PACT
Legal Fund to pay for the legal battle to keep a casino out of Florence.

- Join other anti-casino
groups in their efforts to stop the injustice of casinos
being forced on communities that don't want them. Anti-casino groups
have petitioned the federal
government to include state and local interests in crafting rules
for some Indian casino proposals. PACT supports that petition.
- Support PACT's efforts
to get the Government to impose a moratorium
on any new casinos until independent studies (not paid for by
the gambling industry) have been done to determine the impact casinos
have on surrounding communities. Write to U.S.
Representative Peter DeFazio and Senators Ron Wyden and Gordon Smith,
and ask them to propose new legislation.
- Contact
Governor Kulongoski
and tell him, in a respectful way, that you don't want special
interests to determine the future of Florence, and why. Tell him you
expect him to put the Oregon Constitution, and well-being of the residents
of Florence, ahead of any special interests being financed by casino-developers.
- Attend Florence City
Council meetings whenever casino, water, sewer or urban
growth boundary issues are on the agenda. The City is trying to make
a special exemption to state law
which prohibits extension of city services outside city limits - for
the casino property only. Make sure you attend those meetings. Contact
